Hanoi|“Touch the peace”, a rare event launched by an educational organization from the Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations has attracted nearly 1000 people coming to refind some peace in their hearts.
In a city full of noise and hurry like Hanoi, where most people are filled with worries and work, there is a place in which they come to live more slowly, feel their lives with all of their senses, and get back the peace inside their hearts. The place is situated at 10A Alley 1, Lane 34, Au Co Street, Tay Ho.

In April, “Touch the peace” (“Chạm vào bình yên”), an event taking place only once or twice a year, was organized there. About 950 visitors got to experience a series of activities in different spaces, each of which brought about various emotions. The special thing is that all those spaces and activities were designed to help people heal themselves and spend time caring for their spirits. Simultaneously, they are absolutely free for participants.

The highlights of the event “Touch the peace” (“Chạm vào bình yên”) included activities such as “A cup of peace” (“Một tách bình yên”), “Being peaceful alone” (“Một mình bình yên”), “Peace meditation” (“Bình yên thiền định”), “Peace movement” (“Chuyển động bình yên”), “The shop of peace” (Yên quán), and “Me of tomorrow”(“Tôi của ngày mai”). Arriving at the center, participants sat in a pretty garden with gentle murmur and drank tasty and creative cups of tea made by volunteers at Inner Space.

“The drinks served at the event were all made from handmade dry flowers by the volunteers”, according to Ms. Dao Thuy Linh, a volunteer at Inner Space. (Photo by Film Fact)
Upon entering the event area, participants were asked to take off their shoes to feel the cool ground under their feet. They were then given cards to pin to their shirts. The experiential activities began when participants touched the cards, regarded as ‘peace switches’.

The signature activity of the event is "Being peaceful alone" (“Một mình bình yên”). With this activity, participants will be alone in a beautifully decorated and fragrant room to calm down and focus on feeling their hearts.
Another notable activity is “Peace movement” (“Chuyển động bình yên”). In this part, participants had a volunteer walk them through some workouts and exercises. These steps seemed like playing with their body. The volunteers said that in today’s hurried lives, people often forget taking care of their bodies and appreciating that they are very lucky to have normal arms and legs to work; therefore, these activities were designed to help them be aware of that.

An activity that the participants could not forget was experiencing the space of “The shop of peace” (“Yên quán”).

“The shop of peace” (“Yên quán”) is located on a terrace with cool breezes and romantic lights. The participants sat here sharing with each other what they had experienced and then drawing their own pictures. Diverse and nice colors, a pretty and nature-friendly space, together with gentle music made them forget all of their worries and stress.

Consolation came from handmade items
Since most of decorations and drinks here are handmade, it took the volunteers about two months to prepare.

So what are those handmade objects that the volunteers have had to prepare so meticulously? The first one is bubble tea. This bubble tea has a special taste because its recipe was created by the volunteers themselves. The tea has the fragrant smell of cinnamon, the warm taste of ginger, and the sweet taste of milk.
The space “Touch the peace” (“Chạm vào bình yên”) was also decorated by vases of flowers which were taken care of by the volunteers.

At times, people worry so much about work, family, and friends that they forget that their own hearts also need to be cared for. Coming to the event “Touch the peace” (“Chạm vào bình yên”), the participants got to find a secret place for their most basic feelings. “Touch the peace, dive into your heart” (“Chạm vào bình yên, lặn vào trái tim”); “Everything will go away, only love stays” - that’s what the volunteers of Inner Space wanted to let us know after those activities.
